The Air Force common admission test (AFCAT) is conducted by the Indian Air force for the selection of Class-1 Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical). The exam is organized twice a year, in February and August/September.


AFCAT Eligibility Criteria 2021

Candidates who are willing to take AFCAT exam must be a citizen of India. The brief AFCAT eligibility criteria for different branches/courses is mentioned below for your reference.

Age Limit

It varies as per the branch. Here is a brief detail of the age limit and relaxation:

  • Flying Branch (AFCAT & NCC Entry): 20 – 24 years as of July 1, 2021.
  • Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical): 20 – 26 years as of July 1, 2021.
  • The DOB accepted by the IAF is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University.

Marital Status

  • Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course.
  • Widows/ Widowers and divorcees below 25 years are also not eligible.

Education Qualification

  • Graduation with a minimum of 3 years degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks is required.
  • For Flying Branch, a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level is a must.

AFCAT Application Form 2021: How to Apply?

Application Form for AFCAT is made available in online mode only. The AFCAT 2 2021 application form had started on June 01, 2021. The step-by-step AFCAT registration cum application process is mentioned below.

AFCAT Registration

  • Go to the official career website of the Indian Air force.
  • Click on the Candidates login section.
  • A new web page will appear. Fill in the registration details asked for new users like the name; e-mail ID, mobile number, etc.
  • Click on submit. A new AFCAT registration ID and password would be sent to the registered Email address.
  • Note: It is to be noted that the candidate should keep their registered email id and phone number active, throughout the selection process.

AFCAT Apply Online

  • Fill in the details as per the directions are given on the webpage.
  • Select the preference of branch, AFCAT Exam Center, Subject for EKT exam, etc.
  • Upload Your signature and Photograph (as per dimensions provided in the notification).
  • Click on submit.

Payment of AFCAT Application Fee

  • After filling the online form, the exam fee of INR 250 has to be made through the ‘Make Payment’ step in the main menu.
  • This fee is non-refundable.
  • The examination fee can be paid using credit/ debit cards/ net banking through the payment gateway.


AFCAT 1 2022 Notification, Eligibility, Education Qualifications

🔰Age Limit: 

✓ Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry: 20 to 24 years as on 01 Jan 2023 i.e. born between 02 Jan 1999 to 01 Jan 2003 (both dates inclusive). 

✓ Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: 20 to 26 years as on 01 Jan 2023 i.e. born between 02 Jan 1997 to 01 Jan 2003 (both dates inclusive).

🔰Educational Qualifications:
(i) Flying Branch: Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and

(a) Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

🔰Ground Duty (Technical) Branch: Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks.

🔰Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches:

(a) Administration branch: Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks.

(b) Education branch: Passed 10+2 and Post-Graduation with 50% marks in any discipline  including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60% marks in Graduation in any disciple.

🔰NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch): NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate acquired on or after 01 Dec 17 is mandatory. 

✓ Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2. 

✓ Graduates with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
